Born in Metairie, LA, Carrone’s journey toward healthcare leadership began at the age of 17 when he enlisted in the U.S. Army. His military service instilled in him the core values of loyalty, dedication, and resilience—principles that would guide him throughout his career. After eight years of military service, Carrone pursued a career in nursing, graduating from Charity School of Nursing before earning a Bachelor’s in Nursing from the University of Louisiana, Lafayette.
Carrone’s early career in emergency medicine spanned nearly two decades, where he saw firsthand the deep flaws in the healthcare system. It was during the COVID-19 pandemic that these systemic issues became glaringly evident. Witnessing the overwhelming strain on traditional healthcare models, Carrone knew that real change was necessary. Rather than continuing to work within a broken system, he chose to create a better one.
In October 2021, Carrone took a bold step by resigning from his position at the hospital and investing his personal savings into launching his first medical practice. Partnering with a physician, he poured everything into making the business a success. The next 18 months were grueling, with Carrone working without a paycheck, but his perseverance paid off when the practice finally became profitable. However, just days after reporting the practice’s first profits, Carrone’s business partner unexpectedly pushed him out, leaving him with nothing but his resolve to continue changing healthcare.
Undeterred by the setback, Carrone founded DPC Plus, a revolutionary network of interconnected direct primary care practices in Southeast Louisiana. Under his leadership, DPC Plus has quickly become a game changer in healthcare delivery, offering a model that prioritizes patient care and accessibility over profit. DPC Plus brings together a community-focused, patient-centered approach to medicine, offering affordable, comprehensive care without the bureaucratic inefficiencies of traditional healthcare systems.
